"...With God, all things are possible." Matthew 19:26b

There is nothing wrong about ambition. Ambition gives people a desire to better themselves and others around them; ambition provides us with a drive to make a better world and a better way of living. I believe ambition is a God-given trait or characteristic so that we can help make the world around us smarter, stronger, better.

But I firmly believe that without God’s blessing, little could be done to make any true improvements. As I continue in my quiet time around the subject of busy-ness, I am reminded of how great our God is. My devotional brought me to the end of Job. After all Job went through, I would have thought God would have given the man a crown. Instead, God rebukes him.

In Job 38:4, God asks to Job “Where were you when I established the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding.” Throughout this entire passage, God asks these leading questions to Job to demonstrate how LITTLE power man has in his life circumstances and in the world. He goes on in 38:12, saying “Have you ever in your life commanded the morning or assigned the dawn its place?”

The moral that I take from this is that God has it. He has it all. He holds it all. Nothing surprises Him. Everything has been done to bring Him glory. Who are we to doubt? Who are we to try to take the future by our hands? If He has it, as He states here, we don’t need to try to become bigger than we already are; we can trust that He has numbered our days wisely and there will always be enough time for Him to accomplish what He wants through us.

Ambition is fine and good. But trust that God has it.
